World book day is very close! So we’ve collected a few ideas of costumes based on books for children in nursery and preschool. Research by the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, in March 2013, found that children aged four to five who are read to three to five times a week are six months ahead of their peers in terms of reading. So here is a perfect excuse to get your kids more interested in reading, from an early age!

Beauty and the Beast:

We’re sure every parent had a copy of this traditional french fairy tale on their own bookshelf as a kid. This fairy tale is told worldwide and has been recreated many times over in picture books and film. With the upcoming Disney film, we are sure to see many mini Belle’s this year! This costume is a great gift for any princess, not only for World Book Day but for playtime in general.

The Tiger Who Came to Tea:

We love Judith Kerr’s self-illustrated titles and The Tiger Who Came to Tea is certainly a timeless piece. This classic story is about a little girl named Sophie who had an extraordinary tea-time guest! Guaranteed to kick start any child’s imagination, this tiger costume could also double as Winnie the Pooh’s stripey friend – Tigger!

Pirate Pete:

Pirate Pete is a popular choice to help your little one along with issues such a potty training and introducing a new sibling. Encourage your little one to become just as brave as Pirate Pete in any of our toddler Pirate costumes!

Doc McStuffins

Doc McStuffin Costume

Inspiring girls all over the world, Doc McStuffins is the American-Irish television series which is aired on the Disney Channel and Disney Junior. While this might be more famous as a TV show, there are many books written about Doc McStuffins. She is a six-year-old with a dream to be a doctor, like her mother, and practices by fixing her toy dolls.

How do Dinosaurs Say Good Night?

How Do dinosaurs Say Good Night?

Adults and kids both love this book and we’ve heard that children request it night after night. Why not indulge their wild side and get them a costume to match their prehistoric penchant? This costume is also great for Halloween, so if you’re looking for a costume that will be used time and time again, this is it.
