Original Ghostbusters Proton Pack and “Slimer” the Green Ghost to be auctioned

After the news of the discovery of the Higgs boson set the scientific communities tongues wagging last week, another major win for science (albeit fictional science) has been announced with the news that the original Ghostbusters Proton Pack will be falling under the hammer on the 30th of July in Los Angeles.

Although it isn’t clear which of the Ghostbusters wore this particular proton pack (it is rumoured the packs were alternated throughout filming, so it is possible all four of them wore it at one point) it is the first of its kind to come under auction and is an authenticated prop from the original 1984 Ghostbusters film. The proton pack is a portable particle accelerator allowing would be Ghostbusters among you to hold “negatively charged ectoplasm entities.”

Anyone walking around Glasgow in the coming weeks should not be alarmed if they see American street signs rather than the British ones they are used to.

Restored Hitchcock films to add to Olympic celebrations

Silent films made by Alfred Hitchcock during the early part of his career are being restored so they can be shown off to the public during the build-up to the 2012 Olympics.

It was revealed yesterday (July 4th 2011) by the British Film Institute that a series of classics made in the 1920s are being worked on by cinema experts to get them back to their former glory.

Furniture shop owner fears store is haunted

The owner of a furniture shop has said he fears his store is haunted because of a series of unexplained events that have happened recently.

Andy Rees told the Wirral News he thinks that Raspy's in Birkenhead has a spirit among all the tables and wardrobes, even though he's not sure he believes in them fully.

"You get a feeling that somebody is watching you and you can hear footsteps late at night, even though you know nobody is in," he shuddered.
