This has to go down as one of the most bizarre stories we've ever seen, but it has been found that Adolf Hitler wanted an army of dogs to help him fight the Allies in World War II.

The Nazi dictator set up a special dog school near Hanover in order to teach canines to read and talk through their barks.

One of the best pupils was reportedly a terrier called Rolf, who learnt to tap out the alphabet with his paws.

‘Indian Crufts’ includes fancy dress competition

The Indian equivalent of Crufts took place over the weekend and a menagerie of mutts descended on Chennai to take part in the prestigious competition.

However, the Indian Pooch League's annual gathering appears to be a little less dour than its UK counterpart.

Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery is hosting a new fancy dress exhibition that covers everything from Medieval deer costumes to contemporary hedgehog getup.

The Worn to be Wild exhibition, which is the brainchild of designer Kate Plumtree, was inspired by the wildlife of Britain – particularly the country's unique array of rare birds and mammals.
