The Curious Case of Costume Criminals in Times Square

TIMES SQUARE in New York City was once the cities seedy underbelly. The area once full of sex shops, drugs and high crime rates is now one of cities biggest tourist attractions. However, a new and unlikely criminal element has been making headlines in the form of costumed street performers.

The AP reports that most of the street performers are poor U.S. immigrants who don character costumes and beg people to pose for photos with them. The photos of course aren’t free and what on the surface looks like a little fun has turned ugly on several occasions during the last year.

Breaking Bad Costumes Donated to Charity

As the Fifth and final season of Breaking Bad winds to a close the bosses behind the show have donated the costumes worn by the cast to a local Albuquerque, New Mexico charity organization.

Boxes of costumes, worn by the shows star Bryan Cranston who plays a chemistry teacher turned drug dealer after being diagnosed with cancer, and other cast members were donated to Joy Junction, one of the largest homeless shelters in the U.S. state of New Mexico.

Profit from the outfits which have been on sale in Joy Junctions local thrift store since yesterday (Wednesday 27th of February) will be pumped back into the organizations community outreach program.

Oscar Winner Jennifer Lawrence’s Silver Linings Playbook Costumes up For Auction

A range of costumes worn by Jennifer Lawrence in her Academy Award winning role for Silver Lining’s Playbook have gone on auction this week. The outfits include the actresses sexy white dance costume and even her sports bra.

On Sunday the 22-year-old Hunger Games actress walked away (and tripped a little) with the award for Best Actress at the 85th annual Academy Awards for her role as a troubled widower in Silver Lining’s Playbook.

Shortly after winning the award outfits worn in the film by both Lawrence and her “sexiest man alive” co-star Bradley Cooper were listed for auction on the website for memorabilia dealer Nate D Sanders.
